Privacy and cookies

Who we are

CrankSight is the trading name of CRANKSIGHT LTD, company number 17493790, registered office c/o Wilson Partners Limited, 7 Sandy Court, Ashleigh Way, Langage Business Park, PL7 5JX. We are the controller of the personal information described here. Contact us about anything in this notice at hello@cranksight.co.uk. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, registration number ZC274068.

What we collect

  • Your order: your name, email address, the country you're buying in, the car model you ordered, any discount code, and the date and amount paid.
  • Payment details: handled by Stripe, our payment provider. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe tells us your billing country and card country, which we keep as tax records.
  • Your account: your email address, which you use to sign in to the app, and the guides you've bought.
  • Your inspections: the answers and notes you enter about cars you view. These are saved on your device and, when you're signed in, to your account so you can open them on another device.
  • Messages: anything you send us by email.

We don't ask for a car's registration number, and we don't need any information about the seller.

How we use it, and why we're allowed to

  • To prepare and deliver your guide, give you access in the app, and send price updates. This is needed to perform our contract with you.
  • To keep accounting and tax records, including the country of each sale. This is a legal obligation.
  • To answer your messages and handle refunds. This is needed to perform our contract with you.
  • To send you your discount code for another model. This is part of your purchase. We won't send you marketing emails unless you've agreed to them, and you can opt out at any time.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run CrankSight. They only use your information to provide their service to us:

  • Stripe, for payments.
  • Supabase, which hosts our database and sign-in, in London.
  • Resend, which sends our emails.
  • Cloudflare, which hosts this website and the app.
  • Our accountants, Wilson Partners, for our accounts and tax returns.

Some of these providers are based in the United States. Where your information is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK-US data bridge. We never sell your information.

How long we keep it

  • Order and payment records: 6 years after the end of the financial year of the sale, as UK tax law requires (10 years for sales to EU countries, where EU VAT rules require it).
  • Your account and saved inspections: until you ask us to delete them, or 3 years after you last sign in.
  • Emails: up to 2 years after we last hear from you, unless they relate to an order.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to send it to you in a portable format. Email hello@cranksight.co.uk and we'll reply within one month. Some records, such as tax records, we have to keep even if you ask us to delete them.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies and storage

This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Its fonts are hosted with the site, so your browser doesn't connect to any third party to display it.

The app stores information on your device so it works: your sign-in, and the guides and inspections you've saved, so you can use them without an internet connection. This is strictly necessary for the app to work, so we don't ask for consent. Our payment page, provided by Stripe, uses cookies to process your payment securely and prevent fraud.

We'll update this notice if how we use your information changes, and show the date it was last updated. Last updated 15 October 2026.
