What to check on a Range Rover Sport SVR
3 model-specific things to look at when you view one. They're a starting point, not the full inspection.
Water leaks
What to look for: Check the headlining around the panoramic roof and the boot floor and carpets beneath the tailgate for damp or staining. Look at the door seals to see they're seated properly.
Why it matters: Door seals have been known to come adrift, and water leaks around the tailgate and past the panoramic glass roof have been reported. Tailgate and sunroof leaks can cause electrical problems, so a dry car is what you want.
Air suspension and front knocks
What to look for: Check the car sits level with no suspension warning light, and raise and lower it through its heights. Drive slowly over bumps and listen for knocking from the front.
Why it matters: Air suspension faults on the L494 show as a lopsided stance with a warning light. Low-speed knocking at the front often points to worn lower arm bushes.
Electrics and controls
What to look for: Try every button and switch, the reversing camera, both touchscreens on facelifted cars, and the exhaust valve in each drive mode. Check the parking brake releases fully.
Why it matters: Frozen reversing cameras and buttons that don't work properly have been reported, though the SVR has fewer electrical problems than other Sports. Random exhaust valve opening and closing is uncommon. On the L494, the electronic parking brake actuator can fail to release and battery drain is common.
